Bio
Head Women's Volleyball Coach, Skyline College
Coach Nilo Mauricio is in his seventh season as Head Coach of the Skyline College Women's Volleyball program. With over 30 years of coaching experience across club, high school, and collegiate levels, Coach Mauricio is recognized for his leadership, player development, and competitive success.
Before joining Skyline College, Coach Mauricio led the Burlingame High School volleyball program to historic achievements. In 2017, his team went undefeated in the Peninsula Athletic League (PAL) for the first time and became the first San Mateo public high school to compete in the Central Coast Section (CCS) Open Division. That season culminated in a semifinal appearance in the Nor-Cal Championships. In 2016, Burlingame finished second in PAL and captured the school's first CCS Championship, advancing to the Nor-Cal quarterfinals.
Most recently, Coach Mauricio served as Assistant Coach for the University of San Francisco Women's Beach Volleyball Team from 2023-2025
He has also contributed to the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program (formerly High Performance) for over 16 years, including serving as Assistant Coach for the USA Select Continental Team in 2018.
He has coached various club teams throughout the Bay Area for over two decades, consistently qualifying teams across all age groups for Junior Nationals. One of his most memorable achievements was leading the San Francisco Juniors 12s team to an undefeated run at the SCVA Qualifier, dropping only one set over three days.
Coach Mauricio is deeply committed to player development, focusing on building strong fundamentals, competitive mindset, and leadership skills both on and off the court. He strives to empower student-athletes through a holistic approach that values effort, integrity, and continuous learning. His coaching philosophy blends competitive excellence with character development—instilling discipline, resilience, and teamwork while helping athletes grow into confident leaders prepared for success on and off the court.
As a player, Coach Mauricio competed with the City College of San Francisco Men's Volleyball team (1992-1993) and with XLVB in the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA), earning multiple AA Gold League and Regional Championships. He also competed in the USA Volleyball Open and Beach Open Championships, earning four gold, three silver, and one bronze medal between 2005 and 2010.
