Collective Effort Carrying Skyline Into Conference Play
The Skyline College women's soccer team has battled through a competitive non-conference schedule to open the 2025–26 campaign with a 4–3 record, including a strong 3–0 mark on the road. The Trojans opened with three straight victories, highlighted by a 7–0 rout at Solano on August 29 and a 2–1 win at Merced on September 9, showcasing an attack that has produced 15 goals across seven matches
Sophomore forward Mariah Simpson provided an offensive spark early in the season, scoring 6 goals and adding 2 assists in her first four appearances. Although she was sidelined after the Modesto match on September 16, her early contributions set the tone for the Trojans' attack and created momentum for the squad heading into Coast Conference play.
Skyline showed its depth in the first match without Simpson, earning a 2–1 win over Contra Costa on September 23 behind goals from Saniya Latu and Angelina Alioto.
The Trojans then faced a tough test against Evergreen Valley on September 30, where they fell 3–0 in a hard-fought match.
Even as the roster adjusts, key players like Sam Iffla, Daniela Green, and Robin Shin continue to push the attack forward, while Bailey Collins, Madison Viernes, Charlie Thelen, and Kristal Alcaraz provide steady work in the midfield and defense. In goal, Isyss Taolo has been a consistent presence, recording 19 saves and a shutout across five starts.
With Coast Conference play just beginning, the Trojans are focused on building chemistry, tightening up defensively, and finding balance in the attack. Their strong road form and collective determination point to a team capable of competing every time they step on the pitch.
