2024-25 Skyline Women's Basketball Season Preview
After capturing the Coast Conference North title last season, the Skyline Women's Basketball team is poised to defend its crown with a promising mix of returning talent and fresh faces. This year's squad, although young, has all the pieces to make another deep run.
Leading the charge is Jazmynn Sciancalepore-Garcia, the versatile forward who made a splash as a freshman, earning 1st Team All-Coast Conference honors. Alongside her in the frontcourt is Serena Mezzetta, whose steady play and leadership will be critical as Skyline integrates several new additions. Freshman Imaya Anderson (Lincoln SF) joins the frontcourt rotation and brings a much-needed presence on both ends of the floor.
The Trojans have also bolstered their lineup with the addition of two transfer guards, E'Moni Tillman and Lemoni Tillman, both hailing from Lincoln. Their experience and ability to create offense off the dribble will complement Skyline's up-tempo style.
While youth might be a concern for some programs, Skyline sees it as an advantage. The Trojans' incoming class is stacked with players who know how to perform under pressure, many of whom have logged significant postseason minutes in high school. The perimeter will be fortified by a trio of versatile wings: Raelyn Dela Cruz (Crystal Springs Upland), Amelia Vaihola (Archbishop Riordan), and the Ieremia twins, Ciara and Tiara (both from Lincoln). This group brings length, athleticism, and the ability to stretch the floor.
In the backcourt, the Trojans have no shortage of firepower. Alexis Cornejo (Summit Shasta), Jahzara Pratt (Mission), Viviana Martinez (Notre Dame), Stephanie Reynon (Balboa), and Desiree Perez (Moreau Catholic) all provide a blend of scoring, playmaking, and defensive tenacity. With this level of depth, head coach Chris Watters has the flexibility to deploy a variety of lineups that can dictate the pace and spacing of games.
The Trojans' talented roster, loaded with all-conference caliber players, won't shy away from the rigors of a competitive conference. With an eye on establishing themselves as one of the top teams in California, Skyline looks ready to meet the challenge head-on, relying on their youthful exuberance and high basketball IQ to navigate the season's obstacles. If all the new pieces come together as expected, Skyline could be primed for a repeat title run and more.
