Skyline Downs San Francisco
After a three week break from games, Skyline (14-3, 1-0) finally returned to action. The Trojans visited City College of San Francisco (11-5, 0-1) Wednesday night to open Coast Conference Play. CCSF started the game hot from the outside and jumped out to a 16-point lead after the 1st Quarter. Skyline battled back in the 2nd Quarter and cut CCSF's lead to 12 at the half. The 3rd Quarter belonged to Skyline, as the Trojans outscored the Rams 20-7 taking a 52-51 lead into the final quarter of play. The teams battled in the 4th Quarter. Skyline held CCSF scoreless for a nearly 4-minute stretch late in the 4th Quarter to hold off the Rams. An Angie Olive jumper with 10 seconds left gave Skyline the lead for good, and Tati Newsome sealed the victory with two free throws in the final seconds. Skyline had 4 players in double figures: Malia Latu and Lala Lautaimi had 20 points each, Newsome added 11 points, and Nicole Brunicardi chipped in with 10 points. Skyline will return to action at home on Friday night as they host Foothill College.
