Skyline Sweeps Opening Weekend

Skyline College Women's Basketball played back to back on Friday and Saturday to open the season winning both games by decisive margins.  #10 Skyline defeated #12 DVC Friday night 78-48.  Skyline jumped out to an early lead before finishing the first half up 44-22, and never looked back.  Skyline received contributions from a number of players.  Lala Lautaimi (19), Nicole Brunicardi (12), and Tatiana Newsome (10) all scored in double figures.  Sophomore Jalene Parangan added 7 points and 7 rebounds, while freshman Malia Latu added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Skyline returned to action Saturday afternoon and defeated Lassen College by a final score of 78-44.  Skyline again got off to a hot start and doubled up their opponent 45-22 by halftime.  Skyline stretched their lead in the third quarter before playing even in the fourth.  Skyline again had three double figure scorers, Karen Zhu (18), Lala Lautaimi (14), and Malia Latu (12).  Jalene Parangan, Tatiana Newsome, Malia Latu, and Angie Olive all had multiple steals to help Skyline put the game away.

Skyline returns to action Tuesday, November 9 at 5pm when they host Monterey Peninsula College (2-2).
