Skyline Men’s Soccer Building Momentum in Coast Conference Play
The Skyline College men's soccer team has opened the 2025–26 campaign with confidence, starting the season 6–1–2 overall and remaining unbeaten at home at 4–0–1. The Trojans have also begun Coast Conference play with a 2–0 record, which puts them in a tie for first place in the Coast Conference North Division. Their strong start has also earned statewide recognition, as Skyline was ranked No. 18 in the latest CCCSIA Men's Soccer Rankings.
Skyline's offense has been balanced and effective, scoring 20 goals in nine matches while conceding only eight. Leading scorer Beto Fernandez has netted five goals, including two game-winners, while Ethan Jimenez Flamenco has added four goals and two assists. Sean Rannte (two goals, three assists) and Michael Munoz (three goals, two assists) have also provided consistent production, and the Trojans have benefited from depth as several other players, including Juan Contreras, Eric Barajas, Anthony Campos, Mateo Contreras, and Angel Ramirez, have contributed goals.
In the midfield, Josh Pereda has been a playmaking force with four assists, and Guiness Ruiz-Rockett has chipped in with a goal and three assists. The back line has provided stability throughout the early season, helping limit opponents' opportunities and securing results in close matches. Defensively, Skyline has already posted five shutouts and proven difficult to break down.
In goal, Matias Kramer has been outstanding as the team's primary starter, appearing in eight matches with a 5–1–2 record, 29 saves, and three shutouts while maintaining a goals-against average of just 1.04. Freshman goalkeepers Adan Contreras and Jacob Kohlmeister have also contributed shutout minutes, giving the Trojans depth and confidence in net.
With momentum building and a top-20 state ranking, Skyline is set on climbing higher in the Coast Conference standings. The Trojans' combination of a diverse scoring attack, reliable midfield play, and a stingy defense makes them one of the toughest teams in the league, and if current form continues, they appear well-positioned to contend for both a conference title and a postseason berth.
