Bryan Thomasson elected into CCCMBCA Hall of Fame
Congratulations to former Skyline College men's basketball player Bryan Thomasson on his recent election into the California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Out of Jefferson High School, Thomasson played for the Trojans from 1988-90, under coach Pete Pontacq. A prolific scorer, Thomasson still stands as Skyline's all-time leading scorer.
As a freshman, Thomasson was named First Team All-State, while leading Skyline to the conference championship and an appearance in the State Elite 8.
As a sophomore, he was named State Player of the Year, after leading the state in scoring at 27 ppg. He led Skyline to a 31-2 record and another conference championship. He set the all-time record at Skyline for points scored in a single season (844) and in a career (1,348). Both records still stand to this day. Thomasson also holds the all-time record at Skyline for free throws made in a single season (175).
Following his Skyline career, Thomasson moved on to the University of Nevada-Reno. As a junior, he was named Nevada Newcomer of the Year. As a senior, he led the team in scoring and won the Senior Award.
This honor is one of many received by Thomasson. He is already a member of the Skyline Athletics Hall of Fame, Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame, and Daly City Hall of Fame.
Thomasson is still very active in the basketball community. He founded and operates SF Work Hard Play Hard, a youth basketball organization.
