Trojans Open 2023 Season with Wins Over College of the Siskiyous
Looking to defend their 2022 Coast Conference Championship the Skyline Baseball team opened the 2023 season with a two game home series sweep against College of the Sisikiyous.
On Friday, Skyline pounded out 14 hits and scored 13 runs in a 13-3 win. Sophomore outfielder Max Coupe (3-5, 3R, 3RBI, HR) paced the Trojans from the leadoff spot. Sophomore infielder Dane Anderson also collected three hits and scored 3 runs in the win.
Sophomore right handed pitcher Benito Valle-Jhanda (1-0) picked up the win, settling in to pitch five innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits with 5 strikeouts.
On Saturday, Skyline completed the two game sweep with a 16-3 win. Sophomore outfielder Mateo Medina (3-4, 2R, 1RBI), Freshman infielder Ethan Bergan (3-4,3R,3RBI) and Sophomore outfielder Camron Grant (2-4, 1R, 3RBI) lead the Trojans offense.
Sophomore right handed pitcher Tyler Moniz-Witten pitched well in a no decision, tossing 4.1 innings, allowing just one run on 4 hits with 5 strikeouts. Sophomore Josh Mathiesen (1-0) picked up his first win of the season in relief.
