Trojans Outlast Fog and Pirates to Take Game #1
The # 5 seed Skyline Trojans opened the 2022 CCCAA Northern California Regional Playoffs with a 16-5 win over #12 seed Modesto JC.
Game #1 was delayed twice due to the thick fog that covered field during the 6th and 7th innings, but the Trojan offense was able to see the ball well all game as they pounded out 18 hits, including 9 extra base hits.
Trey Zahursky (3-5, HR, 3RBI) put Skyline up 3-0 with his second inning two run home run. Michael Sarhatt single-handedly broke the game open with a two-run double in the the 3rd inning and a two-run home run in the 5th to extend the Trojan lead to 8-0. Sarhatt finished the day 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, 4 runs scored and 6 RBI.
Rowen Barnes earned the win. Pitching into the 6th inning, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4 Modesto batters.
Game #2 of the best-of-3 series will be played Saturday. May 7th @ 11:00am. Game #3, if necessary will start shortly after Game #2.
