#5 Trojans take on #12 Modesto in Round 1
Skyline (30-8) will host the #12 seed Modesto JC ( 24-13) for a best-of-three 1st round playoff series at Skyline Diamond starting Friday May 6th @ 2:00pm. Game #2 will be Saturday May 7th @ 11:00am and Game #3, if necessary will also be played Saturday. Per CCCAA Championship Playoff policies, admission will be charged for all games. $12 for Adults and $8 for students and faculty. Kids under 12 and those over 65 will not be charged admission.
Skyline enters the playoffs on a 7 game win streak. The Trojans clinched their first Coast Conference Championship since 2004, finishing 16-4 in the Coast North Division, two games ahead of second place West Valley College.
The Skyline offense was productive all season, finishing Top 20 in the state in several catagories including 38 Home Runs (7th), 287 RBI (18th), 81 Stolen Bases (14th), .311 Team Batting Average (19th), .416 On Base % (12th), and .482 Slugging (10th).
Freshman Jesse Pierce lead the team with a .383 batting average, 54 Hits, 9 Home Runs, 43 RBI, and 17 Stolen Bases. Fellow Freshman Jace Jeremiah lead the team with 50 Runs Scored and chipped in 6 Home Runs, 37 RBI and 16 Stolen Bases.
Six Trojans drove in at least 20 runs this season including Pierce, Jeremiah, Camron Grant (30), Michael Sarhatt (28), Dominic Meza (27) and Max Coupe (23).
The Trojan pitching staff was dominant on the mound, they finished the regular season ranked #1 in the state in Earned Run Average (2.45), Hits Allowed (262), Runs Allowed (117), Earned Run (95) and Shutouts (5).
Skyline leaned on three starters who combined to go 23-5 in the 35 games they pitched. Conor Hourigan (9-2, 70.2 IP, 65 K's, 2.04 ERA), Rowen Barnes (8-2, 76 IP, 64 K's, 2.25 ERA) and Benito Valle-Jhanda (6-1, 53.2 IP, 33 K's, 3.19 ERA). Michael Sarhatt came into save 6 games this season, striking out 14 batters in 13 IP.
