Skyline Claims Conference Championship
Under first year head coach Tony Burnicardi the Skyline College baseball team claimed the programs first Coast Conference Championship since 2004 after a 10-2 road win over Chabot College. The Trojans finish the regular season 30-8 and 16-4 in the Coast Conference North Division, 2 games ahead of second place West Valley College.
On Thursday, Skyline took 3-0 lead in the first inning after a bases loaded two run single by Dominic Meza and a sacrifice fly by Michael Sarhatt. Meza finished the game with 3 hits and 2 RBI. Sarhatt and Trey Zahursky each drove in a pair of runs. The Trojans scored single runs in the 4th, 7th and 8th innings before putting the game away in the top of the 9th with 3 runs.
Rowen Barnes tossed 6 innings, allowing two runs while scattering seven hits and striking out four for his 8th win of the season.
NorCal Playoff series will be determined on May 1st. Skyline is ranked #6 in Northern California and will host a first round playoff series on May 6th & 7th.
