Trojans searching for success
The Skyline College baseball team is 0-4 to start the 2021 season. A limited roster of players and a tough schedule have contributed to the cold start.
Head Coach Dino Nomicos knew that the 2021 season was going to be a challenge, yet after an 0-4 start he is optimistic that even with a limited roster of just 15 players, things will turn around for the Trojans. With over twenty of his incoming freshmen and returning sophomores opting to sit out the abbreviated 15 game season, which includes no conference championship or post season play, the options are limited each game that the Trojans play.
A roster featuring five sophomores and ten freshmen take the field for Skyline, often playing multiple positions and although they have yet to find their way into the win column they have been competitive in each game.
Freshman Tyler White is leading the way offensively, posting a .417 batting average, collecting 3 RBI and 5 stolen bases in the first four games.
On the mound, sophomore Gene Aberouette has been dominant in 6.2 innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out 12.
Skyline travels to West Valley College on Friday, April 23rd and will take on district rival College of San Mateo on Thursday April 29th @2:30pm. No spectators are allowed per San Mateo County regulations.
