Skyline Basketball Teams Both Qualify for Post Season
Both the Skyline Men's and Women's Basketball teams will be participating in the CCCAA Northern California Regional Basketball Playoffs this week.
The Skyline Women earned the #12 seed and will host #21 College of Marin on Wednesday, Feb, 22nd at 7pm. Admission to all regional playoff games will be charged, $12 for Adults, $8 for Senior/Students. Cash only at the door.
Head Coach Chris Watters takes to Trojans back to the postseason for the 4th consecutive season and 7th time in his 10 years as coach. Skyline finished 2nd in the Coast Conference North with a 7-3 record. Overall the Trojans posted a 16-12 record with two game sweeps of College of San Mateo, Ohlone College and Las Positas College in division play.
Sophomore guard Lala Lautaimi (Aragon High, San Mateo) lead the Trojans this season, averaging 17.1 PPG and 9.4 RPG. Sophomore guard Tatiana Newsome (St. Ignatius, Pacifica) chipped in 10.1 PPG and 4.3 RPG.
Head Coach Justin Piergrossi and the Skyline Men's Basketball team earned the 24th seed in this years tournament and will travel to face #19 seed Conta Costa College on February 22nd at 7pm. The Trojans finished 6-8 in the Coast Conference North, just one game out of 3rd place, in what is considered the toughest division in the state. The Coast North Division qualified 7 of their 8 teams for postseason play. Overall the Coast Conference qualified 11 of 15 teams into the playoff bracket this year.
Skyline finished the season 13-15 overall, including season sweeps of district rivals College of San Mateo and Canada College. Sophomores Dominic Wilson (Riordan High, San Francisco) and DeAndre Minor (Carlmont High, Belmont) both averaged 13 PPG while starting all 28 of the Trojans games this season.
